Snowtown Museum is a new project, and we need enthusiastic committee members and helpers.
We also need a home in Snowtown.
Why Start Snowtown Museum?
Snowtown was founded on 17th of December 1878
We can celebrate this with a new Museum to open by 2028 (150 years later)
Snowtown was built as a railway town to connect the cropping land west of Clare to the port of Wallaroo on the Spencer Gulf.
In 2028 Snowtown will be 150 years old, a good reason to celebrate.
Snowtown was named after Mr Thomas Snow, M.A., (Master of Arts degree)
Mr Snow was the Aide-de-camp (personal assistant or secretary to a person of high rank) to Governor Jervois of South Australia.
Marek Herburt, who lives in Snowtown, creates vibrant impressionistic, semi-abstracted landscapes, typically of the Australian Bushland.
Originally from Poland, Marek studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Lodz. Marek immigrated to Australia in 1982, he has lived in Mid-North South Australia since 2001.
He is the winner of the winner of the 2016 Cossack landscape prize. 2016 and 2012 Port Lincoln Art Prize and the 2012 Port Pirie prize.
