About Us

Snowtown Museum is a new project, and we need enthusiastic committee members and helpers.

We also need a home in Snowtown.

Why Start Snowtown Museum?

Snowtown was founded on 17th of December 1878

We can celebrate this with a new Museum to open by 2028 (150 years later)

Snowtown was built as a railway town to connect the cropping land west of Clare to the port of Wallaroo on the Spencer Gulf.

In 2028 Snowtown will be 150 years old, a good reason to celebrate.

Snowtown was named after Mr Thomas Snow, M.A., (Master of Arts degree)

Mr Snow was the Aide-de-camp (personal assistant or secretary to a person of high rank) to Governor Jervois of South Australia.
